Church Child Care Ministries
Infants to 5 year olds (or children who may be experiencing difficulty remaining in worship) - Our child care rooms are an active place where children can grow in mind, body and spirit; it is a place where they can meet Jesus and be nurtured in a growing life-giving faith. Our rooms are open during all Sunday worship services, special church events, as well as upon request from various committees within the church.

Early Christian Awareness
Early Christian Awareness...an early abiding faith
Lake Travis United Methodist Church is especially proud to participate in the program for infants and toddlers 6 months to 35 months of age called "Early Christian Awareness" or ECA.

Sunday School
Classes meet year round from 9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. and incorporate crafts, theater, interactive games and other teaching techniques to bring Bible stories to life in a nurturing environment. Children's Sunday School classes are held for children 18 months through 5th grade.

God Squad
This fellowship for preteens in the 4th and 5th grade combines learning activities that direct them to be better disciples for Jesus. The group meets once a month on Sunday evenings for fun and fellowship. Summers bring outings such as bowling, swim parties and rock climbing. God Squad is a great forum for pre-teens to tackle the complex issues they face in adolescence in a nurturing environment.

Children's Choirs
First Grade-Fifth Grade - Special musical opportunity for children to sing favorite songs, learn new hymns, play musical games and perform for special occasions throughout the church year. Practices are held in conjunction with Wednesday Night Live from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
a. Angel Choir - Preschoolers (3 to 5 year olds ) are exposed to the joy of singing simple Christian songs, experience body movement to music, play preschool musical instruments and create crafts.
b. Cherub Choir - Early elementary aged children (Grades K, 1,2) sing, make instruments, and enjoy rhythm and movement activities
c. The Prophets - Older elementary aged children (Grades 3,4,5) sing and play handchimes. Experienced ringers may have the opportunity to play with "Rookie Bells."

Puppets
Lake Travis United Methodist Church offers one of only a few puppet ministries in the Austin area, and we encourage children to "lend a hand". As youth progress in their puppet skills, they can participate in worship performances as well as perform on the road. Rehearsals are held in conjunction with Wednesday Night Live and monthly Sprouts meetings.

Wednesday Night Live
Wednesday Night Live is a fun, casual evening for all ages. Families on the go can take advantage of dinner served just before Children's Choir and Handbell rehearsals. Adult classes are also offered.

Mission Projects
Lake Travis United Methodist Church children love mission projects, as evidenced by the many hours they've contributed and thousands of dollars they've raised for everything from Kristopher's Gift to the Heifer Project.

Special Events for Children

Easter Activities
An interactive, hands-on Walk Through the Holy Week brings the events of Jesus' last week on earth to life. Youth choirs perform at services during the Easter season, and the Children's Ministry Council sponsors an Easter egg hunt and children's breakfast.

Pre-Teen Camp
For youth entering 4th through 6th grades, Pre-Teen Camp at Mt. Wesley in Kerrville is a great way to make new friends, grow in Christ and just have fun.

Vacation Bible School
Each July, more than 100 Lake Travis area youth take part in Lake Travis United Methodist Church's half-day Vacation Bible School which features everything from crafts to songs to puppets - all geared around Bible learning. Fifth graders and older can participate as youth leaders.
