Ministry Activity Center (MAC)
Our building project is currently underway and we are in construction for this new facility that will house a gym complete with a basketball court and Stage, youth and adult classrooms, and a commercial kitchen. As part of the project we are adding more parking and moving our playground for a better layout and larger playing area. What exactly are we going to do?
On October 5, 2008 we launched our capital campaign journey: Forward By Faith: Our Future, Our Legacy. The funds raised during that campaign will go toward expanding our present facilities to include a new Ministry Activity Center (MAC).
The MAC will include additional classrooms, a dedicated space for our Youth program, a commercial kitchen, a large indoor recreation/gathering area, expanding office space and a cafe. We will also need to expand the parking on our campus.
Why are we doing this?
It is common knowledge that a church that isn't growing is dying. God has blessed us by placing our Church in the middle of one of Austin's fastest growing communities and we must be faithful stewards to the people who God sends to us. The new MAC will enable new ministries for adults and youth and ensure our continued faithfulness to God's future plans for LTUMC.
How will this affect our children?
The MAC will help us do many things we cannot accomplish right now. The MAC will give us a place to explore several new ministries that are needed within our community. For example the MAC will provide us a large area for our children to gather as a group for more "energetic" activities. With additional classrooms we would be able to expand several ministries already in place such as Principios Chiquitos. As part of the project we are moving our playground for a better layout and larger playing area.
How will this affect our Youth?
Besides our children, our youth will also benefit from the MAC. They gym facilites, complete with showers, provide a safe, Christian environment for sports and recreation, lock-ins, and hosting visiting youth groups. The new classrooms, the gym, and dedicated Youth space will provide space for appropriate age-grouping of youth during Sunday School and Youth Fellowship time.
How will this affect our church family?
The greatest benefit will be to the church as a whole, providing us with a place to gather together as a church family. The MAC, when built, will have the capacity to seat over 300 for dinner, provide a place for musical productions, family movie nights, concerts, talent shows and host activities not yet created. Also, many new Sunday School classes and Bible studies can be started to meet specific needs of our members and community.
