MUSIC MINISTRIES
Lake Travis United Methodist Church offers a wide range of opportunities for all ages to participate in the music ministry of the church.
Music Arts Academy - LTUMC has several paid music instructors on staff, to provide private lessons in Piano, Guitar, and Voice to students of all ages.
Children's Music
Wednesday Night Live Children's Music: Ages 4 through 5th grade. Children are divided into 4 choirs (ages 3 through 5th grade). The choirs learn songs for their own personal growth and learning, plus learn songs to share in worship and other special programs.

Cherub Choir and BibleZone - (ages 4, 5 and Kinders as of Sept.1) - the choir sings Christian songs, exeriences body movement to music and plays rhythm instruments. BibleZone offers creative and active encounters with God's Word.
Saints Choir and BibleZone - (Elementary aged children, grades 1 and 2) - the choir sings songs and participates in music related activities.BibleZone offers creative and active encounters with God's Word. BibleZone offers creative and active encounters with God's Word.
Prophet Choir and BibleZone - (Elementary aged children, grades 3,4,5) - the choir sings together, but will also have opportunities to ring chimes, learn puppetry skills and present the Children's Christmas Musical.
Children's Summer Music Opportunities
Vacation Bible School: Children ages 3 through elementary ages participate in a week long Vacation Bible School. The daily schedule includes music time for all campers with a final program at the end of camp. Youth Assistants are needed to help with Vacation Bible School each year.
Youth Music
Middle School Bells - Youth in grades 6-8 are introduced to handbell ringing and techniques. Middle School Bells rehearse Wednesdays 7:00 - 7:45 p.m. and play in worship several times each church season.
High School Bells - youth ringers in grades 9-12 rehearse Wednesdays 7:45 - 8:30 p.m. and play in worship several times each church season. The handbells share their music outside the church by playing for a retirement center several times a year.
Youth Choir - Middle School and High School ages are combined into one choir. Youth Choir rehearses seasonally (contact Director of Music for specific rehearsal dates) and sings in worship approximately every other month. In the spring the choir participates in the Southwest Texas Conference Annual Youth Choir Rally, a weekend gathering of approximately 500 Methodist youth who rehearse, sing in worship and fellowship together.
Lake Travis Brass and Winds - Youth with brass instrument experience can contact Patty Highland. Lake Travis Brass rehearses seasonally. Contact the Director of Music for specific rehearsal dates and times. Currently the ensemble consists of trumpets, trombones and euphoniums. We are always ready to welcome new members. The ensemble plays in worship seasonally. Special music is shared as an ensemble and by soloists or duets from the ensemble.
Praise Band -Cross Xamined is a youth-based rock 'n roll "Praise Band", with guitars, drums, vocalists and other musicians, playing more "modern" Christian music. The band performs at all Sunday youth services (several times per year), and also at other special youth-based functions.
MAD and PB&J Camp: this week-long camp for middle school ages focuses on Music, Art, Drama, Puppets, Bells and Just Plain Fun!!
Adult Music
Adult Choir - Adult Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. and sings for both worship services Sunday mornings (with the choir dividing into 2 groups for services). During the Advent season, the choir presents a cantata.
Adult Handbells - Adult Handbells rehearse Wednesday evenings, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. The handbells share music in worship approximately every other month. The bells often combine with the choir for special anthems.

Taizé - The second Sunday of each month, LTUMC has a Taizé (tah-zay) worship service - a powerful, ecumenical candlelight communion service using the music of Taizé, France. These songs are easily recognizable, made up a simple phrase, repeated again and again. Singers and acoustic instrumentalists are welcome to come join the Taizé Ensemble for rehearsal at 4:30 p.m. and worship at 5:00 p.m. The ensemble would love to have guitars, cello or string bass, flute, clarinet, oboe, violin, and other acoustic instruments. Other Opportunities
Soloists (vocal or instrumental) often share music in worship. We are blessed to have many talented musicians to share their gifts - vocalists, flutists, pianists, organists, and string players. We always welcome members to share their gifts.
