
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through particiipation in the global ministreis of the church.
This unit of The United Methodist Women was founded in 1993. Former presidents of this unit are: Jennifer Lochridge, Imogene Ward, Cheri Stringer, Michelle Simmons, Sandy Barnes, marilynn Milligan, Lori Griggs, Marilyn Cobb, Helen Howard, Dorothy Boddeker and Patty Ruth.
Current officers are: President, Patty Miles; Vice President and Program Chair, Barbara West; Secretary, Sharon Rush; Treasurer, Marcia Dilly. Mission coordinators are Membership, Nurture and Outreach, Debby Duplantis, Merle Hulbert, and Pam Smith; Spiritual Growth, Teddy Broeker; Education and Interpretation, Marthe Morgan; Social Action, Cheri Stringer; and Nominations, Carol Conway and Lynn Miller. Circle Chairs are Growing Friendship Circle, Debby Connors; Ruth Circle, Kazuko White; and Susannah Wesley Circle, Betty Haley. Garage Fundraiser Co-Chairs are Cindy Dillon and Mary Rose Howard.
Individual growth & spiritual enrichment, the study of issues impacting our neighborhoods, nation, and world, participation in informed advocacy and actions, leadership development, and financial support of institutions and projects empowering women, children and youth in the US and around the world.
The strength of women working together is a recognized force in the Methodist Church. This organization dates back over 100 years and is a million women strong! It is both the oldest and the largest women's organization in the world. Countless colleges, hospitals and schools have been funded by the UMW through the years.
Currently, the United Methodist Women's mission giving is at work in 103 mission institutions here in the United States and in nearly 300 programs and institutions in more than 58 countries around the world. It supports mission service opportunities, mission education programs, and nurture and develop programs for United Methodist Women members
A United Methodist Woman is anyone who commits herself to the Purpose and chooses to participate in meetings, prayer, financial giving, study, action, and service. Being a member of The United Methodist Church is not required nor is there any minimum age requirement.
United Methodist Women foster spiritual growth, develop leaders, advocate for justice, and raise funds for projects related to women, children and youth in the US and countries around the world.
