What to Expect

How long are your worship services?
Our worship services typically last 60-75 minutes.

What is your style of worship?
On Sundays we offer a traditional service at 9:30am and a modern service at 11am. Our services include music, prayer, scripture readings, *Holy Communion and an inspiring and hope-filled message from the Bible. Also, on the 2nd Sunday of each month, we offer a Taizé-style worship service with Holy Communion at 6pm.

Communion is received by intinction: the server will hand you a piece of bread, which you then dip into the cup, thereby receiving both elements together. Regular and gluten-free bread are both offered with grape juice. For those with health concerns, we also offer pre-packaged communion wafers and cups. Communion is open to all, including children.

What should I wear?
We’re a casual environment, so some dress up — men in coats and ties, women in dresses — but you’ll also find many in blue jeans, shorts, tee shirts and flipflops. Whatever you wear, we’re glad to see you!

Where should I sit in the sanctuary?
Anywhere you like! There’s no reserved or assigned seating. We have tables and chairs available in the back of the Sanctuary for those who would like more room or a hard surface for drawing or taking notes.

Will I have to say anything or be singled out in any way?

Breathe easy — the answer is no! Your level of engagement is completely up to you. When you enter the Sanctuary, you’ll receive a Connection Card to fill out if you’re interested in our receiving info on our groups, churchwide events and activities, have questions or need prayer.

What about my kids (infants-5th)?
We have childcare and children’s classes for all Sunday morning activities, which are located in the Kids Center.

We use the Celebrate Wonder curriculum. Celebrate Wonder honors the spiritual life of children — their natural sense of awe, wonder, imagination and curiosity — and helps shape their growing faith. They connect with God through engaging experiences, spiritual practices and opportunities for reflection, giving them a safe space to ask big questions and helping them claim their spiritual identity as children of God.

At LTUMC, nothing is more important to us than the safety and security of your children. That’s why we’ve chosen
KidCheck to provide the best check-in experience and allow us to partner with you to keep them safe. You’ll want to leave yourself some extra time to get signed in for the first time. (Everyone connected to our Children’s program has been certified by our “Safe Gatherings” screening program.) Signup for our Children’s Ministry newsletter HERE.

I have older kids (Grades 6-12). What will they do?

On Sundays, youth are invited to worship as a family or with friends in our services (9:30 and 11am) and are invited to our Neighborhood Groups, 5:30-7pm.

Neighborhood Groups are a great time for students at the beginning of the week to connect and be welcomed into our community of faith while hanging out and enjoying dinner, a lesson and discussion.
